Reminscing . . .

If you have just arrived here unnanounced, a brief introduction may be in order.

Fairy, our beautiful, loved and very magical piggy inspired us to create a series of little stories illustrating the wonderful antics in her fun packed life. You will find an index to all her stories here.

She gathered many friends along the way, and one particularly special family – The Mousies. In the following story we find our heroes enjoying a ‘grand day out’ at the seaside. Roll-up your trouser legs and join us for a paddle in Fairy’s world!

SQUEEK – Oh this is the life. A holiday by the sea. Peace, perfect peace. Nothing to do but relax, lots of lovely sun and no one to boss us about. What could possibly disturb this idyllic tranquillity?

Yoo hooooo – Mousies, don’t panic, your beloved Fairy is here.

This looks just the spot to li-lo for a while.

SQUEAK – Oh well, it was good while it lasted. They do say ‘Life’s a Beach’!

Looks like our holiday just started to get ‘interesting’.

What’s all this then? Oh no, no, no. We can’t have itsy bitsy little undersized sand pies cluttering-up the beach now can we?

Right, everyone pay attention and everything. There has been far too much slacking going on.

And, more importantly, it has come to my notice that the sand pies on this here beach are far too small.

If we are going to win the inaugural Fairy’s Biggest Sand Castle on the Beach competition, there will need to be some changes.

SQUEAK – well this one looks plenty big enough to me – I can hardly see over it.

SQUEAK – resistance is futile!

When Fairy has a ‘Big Idea”, it’s a lot quicker and certainly an awful lot quieter, just to let her get on with it.

Hummmph – very artistic, but we need it to be much, much, MUCH bigger!

Goodness, that was quick. Better, but still not quite the ticket.

Oh I see the problem here. You can’t reach up any higher.

Well luckily for you, Sir Plantagenet Big-Mouse is here to lend his mighty paw.

Oh I do hope he gets a move on – it must be nearly snack time.

Finished? Brilliant! About time too.

It was lucky I had arranged for Sir Plantagenet Big-Mouse and Primrose to show you the way.

And now it’s time for the grand prize giving ceremony.

Ahem – it gives one great pleasure to declare ME the winner of the highly prestigious Fairy’s . . .

Ooooh – what’s this bit for?

Obviously I really do know of course – just checking that you are on the ball young Buster m’lad.

Ah yes – clearly, it is a super duper, 5 star luxury extra-cosy beach apartment Sand Castle for entertaining A-List celebrities.

You can all carry on doing whatever I might require you to be doing – and be quick about it.

I’ll just rest my eyes for a few min . . . zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

SQUEAK – phew, that worked jolly well. Let’s enjoy a bit of peace, while it lasts.

Give us a kiss!

Wishing You A Very Merry Pig-Mas!

Merry pigmas

From left to right, Baby Betty, Young Bertie, Flo, Poppy, Posy (on Santa’s chair), and Pansy (looking for the reindeer!) all wish you much happiness, salad and joy this Christmas-time!

In The Beginning . . .

It has been a little over a year since Fairy left us. There hasn’t been a day we haven’t thought about her and remembered her funny little ways, the love and joy, and all the magic she brought – not only to us but also to everyone who knew her, far and wide.

If you are new to Fairy and want to see how it all began then take a look at her very first blog post. By clicking ‘next’ at the foot of each post you can enjoy her life story through her tales and also meet her many friends.

A basket full of piggies!5

We are really sorry to report Pixie left us a few wheeks ago. We miss her smiley, happy face very much. We will never forget the long journey to Scotland to collect her from Wendi at Thistle Cavies Rescue. Along with her pal, Bear, she brought a lot of joy and fun to our lives and I know how much she in turn loved Fairy, her special friend. Pixie will always have a special place in our hearts.

Pixie05

We presently share our cottage and the Piggery with our little family of 4 guinea pigs, Posy, Pansy, Flo and Poppy. Sorry to say that they are not the natural posing models that Fairy was (and hence the scarcity of photographs!). Hopefully, with a little sprinkle of Fairy-Magic, we will find a way of capturing their joyful, playful (pirate-like) dispositions! For now though you will have to be content with this photo of them.

Dear Fairy

It is with the utmost sadness I am writing to tell you our dear, sweet, beautiful and very magical Fairy passed away this morning.

She had a little seizure yesterday morning and fell into a coma soon after. Being Fairy she wasn’t in a hurry to leave her wonderful life but she finally went peacefully this morning at 10am

I know many of you will be as heartbroken as we are.

Let’s be thankful for the fantastic life Fairy had, every day was filled with love, fun, the best salads, hay and the most beautiful pig-sisters ever! She brought so many lovely people into our lives too and huge enjoyment with her little tales!

One day, I want to post some photos and to celebrate her life. It may not be for a little while . . .

Thanks for everyone’s support and for the kind words I know will come. I may not answer them but reading them will mean such a lot to me and Ian.

A Bus Load Of Flowers!

Now then Pixie my old fruit. Kinda peace-able in these here parts of late. It’s been very quiet – too quiet some would say. Happen there’s a storm blowing in to town. Either that or a double decker bus.

Between you, me and the salad bowl, I think there may be a very special delivery on it’s way. I overheard Daddy on the telephone the other day arranging for some very romantic Flowers for our Mummy. Don’t know what he did this time!

Yep – and here it is now – bang on time! Looks to have lots of passengers on it too. Must be another coach party of tourists.

Err . . . excuse me, sorry to be a bother and everything, but is this the marvellous land of magic we have heard wondiferous tales of – where the famous Fairy lives?

Oh Pansy, I think we must be at the right stop, it all looks super duper lovely.

It does too Daisy. I wonder if the catering type salad bar establishment is open for business.

Well, maybe we are a little earlier than expected. It would appear that lunch isn’t quite ready yet.

Are you sure Pansy? I’ll just clamber up onto the top deck to get a better view.

Oh Daisy, quick, come and look at this? It’s just like in all those wonderful stories. I can see mountains of salad, hay and grass, cosy cuddly beds and, oooo err . . . FAIRY? Oh WOW!

That will be little ol’ moi – and I get to be bus driver because apparently that is the pivotal starring role that really moves the plot along and everything!

C’mon you little ‘uns! All aboard, nothing to see here, time you were going. Tickets please, two halves is it? Ding ding and other highly significant and profound Bus type utterances!

Err excuse me Fairy your eminence, me and Pansy, we err, were wondering . . . seeing as we don’t have a forever home, whether it might be . . . if we could . . . maybe you could possibly see your way . . . perhaps we quite thought we might be allowed to errr, STAY HERE WITH YOU AND PIXIE. If you don’t mind too much please, thank you! What’s for tea?

DAAAAAAAAAAADDDY! When I accidentally overheard you mentioning ‘Daisy and Pansy’, I thought you meant the smelly, petal-y flower kind, not the smelly, ravenous furry sort!

What’s that? We will have to have our salad and pellet ration increased dramatically because there are two more mouths to feed???? Brilliant!!!! Welcome aboard you two – everyone off the bus please, ding, ding, hold very tight please, ding, ding again because I like saying it, this bus terminates here – you two have arrived at your destination – Fairyland.

Our Beautiful Bear

It is with the saddest heart I have to write the words we all dread. We have lost our dear, sweet, cuddly Bear.

How could it be just a few days ago when I was spring cleaning the Piggery accompanied by a noisy rumbly thundering noise – it was Bear, zooming back and forth, popcorning with gleeful pleasure. And Saturday morning, while we ate our breakfast in the piggery, there she was bouncing hither and yon, checking each and every tunnel and bed. A cuddle Saturday evening while we watched a DVD, one eye on me and one on Pixie snuggled on Fairy’s daddy’s lap. Sunday morning brought more dashes and a game of ‘follow my leader’, Fairy being the one in the front, Bear bringing up the rear.

At 3pm that afternoon Bear seemed a little sleepy. By 7pm it was obvious Bear was having problems, and by midnight we knew this wasn’t going to end well.

Bear left peacefully, with both of us stroking her, at 4.20am.

Dear Bear, the best pig-sister Fairy could have asked for, and also a very close pig-sister to Pixie – they were the best of friends, always side by side. She spent two Christmases with us, and although her time here was just not long enough it was packed with fun, happiness and love.

They bring us so much joy, and Bear did that in overflowing sacks full, and they give so much love – and then they break your heart.

Our dear and much loved beautiful Bear, we loved you so much x x x x

Fairy’s Love-Bug!

Seeing as how I am an internationally renowned superstar and everything, special days are an ideal opportunity for my legions of Fairy Fans to demonstrate their devotion. Doubly appropriate actually as it is Valentine’s Day today! Whooopeeee, and here comes the Postie.

Oh, my goodness gracious, a parcel, for me? How VERY unexpected!

Mmmmmmmm – brown wholemeal paper – my favourite.

Yes, I know, the packaging is almost as exciting to play with as the pressies.

Oh wowweeeee – I shall go to The Ball.

Now, where was I? Oh yes, munch munch, nom nom. Nearly through to the next present.

But oh-ho! What the heck is this tickly, spider type thing? SPIDER type thing??????? Scuse me, gangway, Fairy going for a quick hide.

Fairy – come back here. It’s okay. It’s an extra special Spider of Luuuuuv.

I knew that!

Spiders are BRILLIANT – you get eight times the cuddles!!!!!

Anyway, moving swiftly on . . . who sent this wonderfully wonderful wonder I wonder?

Extra special wowzzas! We love our super duper, fan-pigga-tastic Valenpig card, Auntie Pyretta, and we love YOU, and Vincent and Herman and Oscar and Samso and Elmo and Boris and Gomez and Frederick and all my special piggy pals everywhere xxx

Fairy’s Love Letters!

We all know what today is. No, not Munchday or Chewsday. It’s Valentine’s Day!!!

As well as my usual impressively huge heap of splendid cards from secret admirers from all around the world, pledging their troths or some such, plus enough magnificent red roses to stock several well appointed Florist Shops, these rather fetching block type things have just arrived. How exciting!

According to the instruction leaflet, you need to spread the blocks all out everywhere and then arrange them into an appropriate Valentine word. Not a problem for a well educated and exceptionally learned Fairy.

Hummmph – not exactly easy is it, I can tell you. Anyway, there seems to be something missing here!

Oh yes, easy peasy! That’s it, all done!!

Hehehe! Got you that time!!!!

Have a Volley Day x x x

Fairy In Print!

Oh my whiskers! I am in PRINT! My sweet and pretty face is adorning a page or two of this marvellous guide aimed at young ‘uns, telling them what’s what with caring for us V.I.P’s! It is told by Parsley Pig (and written by Briony Isaacs) and features lots of celebratory piggies from all around the world. It really is jolly wonderful!

Look! here’s my house and everything – Pixie and Bear are on that other page too!

As if that wasn’t enough popcorn inducing excitement for one day then what about THIS – a new cuddle-up-bed, fresh from the sewing machine of Cavy Couture.

It’s got a roll up back to keep the draughts at bay, and to hide Famous Fairy (from the autograph hunters when they come looking!)

What’s that? Did someone mention . . .

FOOD?! Thank you, waiter!

You would think a one-new-bed day would be enough for any deserving piggy, but this day has turned out to be extra, extra special – here’s ANOTHER new bed. It’s a high back too, and like my lovely ladybird bed, it has been made especially suitably sized for petite, dainty little moi! And rather cosy it is too.

What the . . . BEAR! There is no easy way to say this but you are not quite the right size for my new bed!

Someone – Bear is stretching my new bed! Can you come quick and scoop her up before she does irreparable damage?!

Fairy Keeps Christmas Under Wraps!

Hello there my people – Seasons Greetings from Fairyland on Christmas Day.

We WERE going to have a very civilised present opening session this morning. Unfortunately, piggy excitement seems to have displaced patience and decorum! So instead of my usual beautifully written and wonderfully photographed story, we are happy to share some seasonal snaps starring me and my piggy chums!

Here we all are – starting to get a tiny bit GIDDY.

Oi, Bear, move your great big bottom, that one says ‘Fairy’ on the label. (Actually, Fairy is convinced that ALL the labels say ‘Fairy’!)

Hummmm – this looks rather interesting. Can you guess what it is yet?

Wowwweee – IT’S A REAL LIVE FAIRY CRASH PAD TO CUDDLE UP IN!!!!!

Mine’s lovely, but maybe a teeny weeny bit . . . ‘snug’. I don’t suppose you have one in a slightly larger size?

Synchronised crash pad testing. Waggle those bottoms girls!

Wooooooh – Mummy, I LOVE this one!

Don’t look now Bear, but this present looks a bit fishy!

Room for one more? We’re having a whale of a time today.

All the best things come in little packages. Especially, ME!

Who says I’m looking a bit ‘down in the mouth?’

If everybody loves a present – they’ll be bound to love little ol’ MEEEEE!

Here I am – going cheeeeep!

Time for a very light snackette, in between openings.

Presents are very extra smashing, but you can’t beat playing with the packaging.

I’ll just test this one for snoozzzzzzzzzzzzability.

What a super duper wonderful Christmas Day – we feel so lucky having a present EACH!

Thank you to everyone everywhere and especially Auntie Jenny from ‘Piggy Palace’ who made our amazing, super-duper crash pads x x x

‘Twas Three Nights Before Christmas!

Greetings from a fabulously festive Fairyland my loyal and faithful followers.

Just so you get an idea of what’s what, it’s almost Christmas. Last year Pixie and Bear were too new and giddy to fully appreciate what a special time this is. Unfortunately, Daddy must have whispered the ‘present’ word within their hearing and so they are over excited and determined to find theirs NOW. The hunt is on!

This very one says ‘Fairy’ on it so it’s MY present Bear, NOT yours.

Stand by to repel pirate pigs. Oi!, Bear, sling your hook. It’s not up here either?

Hummmpf – Pixie – I can see you. Kindly desist from taking not so crafty nibbles out of my pressie.

And just for your information, only good piggies get presents at Christmas.

Better luck next year!!!!

Not to worry. Fairy is only teasing. Bear and Pixie will be getting more than their fair share of Christmas cheer.

We all hope you and your piggies have a wonderful time too – Merry Christmas x x x
