My Little Garden!

I received lots of lovely gifts for my Birthday the other day but one in particular was most welcome: Grow-it-yourself Grass!

Our good friends at Gorgeous Guineas sent me a bag of magical seed things which Daddy planted for me. We watered them every day and now look! Lots of yummy, tall, extra fresh tasting grass – just for ME!

Here I am sampling it for my lunch today. Mummy, can you pass me a napkin, please.

Fairy lawnmower (14)

Mmmmmmmmmm! I am getting hints of summer meadow, with tincture of morning dew, and a distinct aftertaste of seconds. Not a bad vintage!

Fairy lawnmower (7)

It works equally well as a pudding! Jolly good exercise for the jaw too. Nom, Nom, Nom.

Fairy lawnmower (1)

It really is very nice, perfect some would say.

You should try some! Err – not from this batch of course. You really wouldn’t like it as much as I do, so it would be wasted.

Fairy lawnmower (2)

Mine came as a gift from Gorgeous Guineas, so you can jolly well visit Planet Guinea and grow your own. Now if you will excuse me, I have some serious munching to get on with. Bye – burp (oops pardon), bye for now.

Everything In The Garden’s Sneezy!

As you know, I am a hay fever sufferer. It isn’t very nice when your dose gets all blocked up or you start sneezing everywhere. I am only allowed to go in the garden in the evening at present, when the pollen is a little less troublesome.

Here I am examining the flowers last night.

These pink and white flowers seem to be special hypo-allergenic varieties . . .

Fairy checks the garden for pollen (2)

. . . but the same can not be said for these purply ones – pfhoof!

Fairy checks the garden for pollen (3)

Hee-hee! I am feeling on top of the world – doing my hedgehog impression!

Fairy checks the garden for pollen (12)

Hum . . . this smells ok, but it’s decidedly not for nibbling – I wonder why mummy and daddy bother to grow it!

Fairy checks the garden for pollen (13)

. . . hang on though! It has yummy lettuce leaf snacks growing in it. Now that really is what I call a magical hedge!

Fairy checks the garden for pollen (9)

Wow! These poppies are very tall! I will need my binoculars to see the flowers.

Fairy checks the garden poppies for pollen (1)

They look very pretty from down here though – almost as pretty as moi!

I’d better go indoors now, before I start sneezing. I think it is also time for a little snack!

We’re On The Move!

The newly weds have been spending time relaxing in their brand new rented apartment in London. It is Japanese style!
Meanwhile Peregrine and Pandora are busy decorating Minty and Monty’s new home, with a little help from Fairy of course.

Come along Peregrine, you will have to brush-up your technique – you’ve missed a bit!

Peregrine and Pandora painting (1)

It’s looking very smart. Maybe Minty and Monty can move in at the weekend.

This Oriental style penthouse apartment in Town is all well and good . . . but I feel like I am in a cage when I come to visit!

Minty and Monty go Japanese! (4)

Mind you, I must admit I quite like this super hat thingy!

Minty and Monty go Japanese! (22)

And the pair of you look very fetching in yours!

Minty and Monty go Japanese! (2)

And those shoes are the height of fashion, Minty!

Minty and Monty go Japanese! (13)

Muuum! Look! Can I get a pair of these please? I could use my Birthday money!

Minty and Monty go Japanese! (12)

They make me look taller, and everything!!! I promise I won’t fall off them.

Minty and Monty go Japanese! (10)

Oh! Is it time for a snack? Good! I was beginning to feel rather peckish! Can we have sushi salad without the fish please?

Minty and Monty go Japanese! (14)

A couple of days later . . .

We’re on the move! Minty and Monty’s new home is ready now. We’ve loaded the cart and we are on the way! I hope they haven’t forgotten anything . . . beds, blankets, cuddle cups, food bowl, salad . . . SALAD?!

House move (1)

Where’s the salad? It’s no good, we’ll have to go back . . .

House move (3)

. . . what’s that Marigold? You’ve already stocked up the fridge? Well, why didn’t you say?! Phew! That’s one less thing to worry about. Let’s get this lot unloaded then and we can make a start on lunch.

House move (6)

There! That is much better! Nom, nom . . . lovely salad!

Err, Snow Bear, get off the bed!

They're in! (3)

I didn’t mean, ‘Help yourself to MY salad’!

They're in! (7)

More tea, Minty?

They're in! (6)

Actually, this bed is quite comfy and seems to be just my size.

They're in! (16)

And Snow Bear fits nicely on the rug!

They're in! (17)

Maybe I could stay over and keep you and Monty company, Minty!

They're in! (13)

Hehe! I was only joking! I like my own house far too much to live in a mouse-house!

More salad anyone?!

Post Birthday Surprise!

Thank you everyone for all your lovely Birthday Wishes, cards, gifts and salad – especially salad! I had a wonderful Birthday and love being ONE. Why can’t it be a brilliant birthday day every day?

Fairy's New Cuddle Cup (1)

I didn’t have a traditional party as such with balloons and streamers and jelly being as I was a little bit poorly. However, lots of friends called round to sample my Carrot Cake – which was scrumptious . . . apparently! . . .

Carrot cake (5)

. . . and to watch me work my way through my salad basket contents. This took up most of the morning.

Fairy's Birthday Treats (7)

It was extremely tiring! I was just getting ready for a nice long nap, when suddenly without warning or anything, someone NEW appeared in MY cuddle cup.

Fairy and Snow bear (4)

Security! SECURITY!!!

Errr . . . . Muuum! Would you mind telling me who THIS is? And more to the point – what exactly does it eat?

Fairy and Snow bear (6)

Aw! Mummy says he’s called Snow Bear, and that he is a late Birthday present from my Great Granny and Granddad. What a nice surprise!

I love his stripy scarf, it matches my bed perfectly, and his snow-white fur matches me! He’s very cuddly too. And seeing as how he doesn’t eat salad – he can stay!

Happy Birthday and 4 days to ME!

Fairy and Snow bear (9)

Happy Birthday, Fairy!

Fairy is ONE today!

Fairy's card from shadowkitten

And look who are here! The love struck mice have returned from their Honeymoon – and just in time.

It looks as though Fairy has a big pile of cards and presents, Minty! I can’t wait to see her face when she knows we have come home from our honeymoon especially to share her big day! This super de-luxe salad basket weighs a ton – and might even last Fairy until teatime!

Fairy's Birthday Treats (2)

Fairy . . . . FAIRY! Come on! Look what we brought you?

Fairy's Birthday Treats (1)b

Oh! Minty, Monty! So – you decided to come home then?

Fairy's Birthday Treats (3)

Some of my special friends thought I was a bit upset when you didn’t make it to the bus the other day, but seeing as you have come for my Birthday AND you seem to have brought along a very big present, I will happily forgive you. Oh shucks, enough of all that lovey dovey cuddly stuff – you two are worse than Daddy!

Fairy's Birthday Treats (4)

Now, let me check this salad for freshness, crispiness and tastability.

Nom, nom, my favourite – Romaine Lettuce! Keep it coming Minty.

Fairy's Birthday Treats (5)

Gosh, a present you can wear AND eat – perfect!

Fairy's Birthday Treats (8)

I love Birthdays – particularly first Birthdays, and even more particularly – My First Birthday!!!!

Fairy's Birthday Treats (9)

That little light snack was good. Now then, what have we here?

Fairy's Birthday Treats (24)

This paper is a bit tough . . . gnash, gnash, rip . . .

Fairy's Birthday Treats (25)3

. . .  I am tearing away and don’t seem to be getting anywhere.

Why are you two giggling? What’s that Monty? The present flew out the other end!

Fairy's Birthday Treats (30)

WOW! Look at this fantastic new PINK cuddle sack and beautiful card.

Thank you very much, Waddles, I love my snuggly present, it fits perfectly . . . you are very thoughtful!

Fairy's Birthday Treats (12)

I expect this card is from you two – it’s a bit cheesy!

Fairy's Birthday Treats (16)

Here I am with my cards from Daddy Ernie, and my Grandma and Grandaddy! Look at Daddy’s jolly Birthday hat – it is HIS Birthday today too! Happy Birthday, Daddy Ernie!

Fairy and Ernie's cards (1)

Woooo – look at all my lovely cards and gifts – what a lucky girl I am.

Fairy's Birthday Treats (20)

Ha ha! Yes Minty! It IS comfy, isn’t it? Now, don’t get too comfy – the colour does nothing for you!

Fairy's Birthday Treats (42)

I am modelling this lovely new Cuddle Cup, my present from Mummy and Daddy! This yellow fleece complements MY sunny disposition perfectly!

Fairy's New Cuddle Cup (8)

It’s really cosy and looks smashing with my special celebratory Fairy Bunting.

Right everybody – after three. One, Two, THREE . . .

Fairy's New Cuddle Cup (7)

Happy Birthday to you,

Happy Birthday to yooou,

Happy Birthday, dear Fairy . . . .

Happy Birthday to YOU!

Happy BD from us all (2)

Gosh even Mariella was singing in tune. That carrot cake smells lovely.

Aw! Thanks again everybody, you have made a very small little Piggy, very, VERY happy!

It has been the best Birthday EVER!

Fairy's Birthday Treats (37)

Err, is it teatime yet?

Come Into The Garden!

As I have some film left in the camera, due to having to dash back unexpectedly from ‘our’ honeymoon, I have decided to take you on a special guided tour round a bit of my garden.

First stop is our Clubhouse. It is fitted out with a gigantic fridge, containing the worlds largest Salad Crisper department. The Club House combines state of the art Piggy-o-matic cumfortatory devices – cuddle cups, huts and tunnels a’ plenty. A place to meet, eat, sleep and play (but mostly eat). Can you see me? I am atop Big Mavis!

Fairy tour round the garden (4)

On to one of the most important bits now – The Vegetable and Salad Bed. We grow our own sweetcorn, parsley and lettuce and other smelly herb like things. We also have raspberries and apples. A small area is set aside for potato growing – goodness knows why because I can’t stand them myself. Waste of good salad growing space if you ask me . . .

Fairy on tour round the garden WF (2)

These are the extra tasty baby sweetcorn plants. Not very big, are they? Hardly worth the effort! Mummy says they will grow big in time (not if I can get to have a go at them first they won’t).

Fairy on tour round the garden WF (1)

That is Daddy’s garden spade propped up against the cow shed wall. He says he gets a bad back digging, I wonder why?

Fairy on tour round the garden WF (3)

That is the way into the cow shed, where we go on hot days – it is very cool in there. The beehive doesn’t have bees IN it . . .

Fairy on tour round the garden NF (6)

. . . although we DO have lots of buzzy bees dotted around the plants. This one is finding pollen in the lupins.

020610 (7)

That is Big Wilma tucking into a helping of fresh chives behind me. And her carrot is against the wall. Tastes a bit woody if you ask me.

Fairy on tour round the garden WF (4)

Here I am in front of the Pig Sty now, in a very special place. It is Mavis’s Memorial Garden. We keep it filled with pretty flowers all year round.

Fairy tour round the garden (13)

No! We don’t have a REAL porky-pig! We have Percy! Mummy, don’t I look brave?

Fairy Percy (1)

This is the flower border.

It goes all the way along the back of the lawned area of the garden.

Fairy tour round the garden (8)

We like to romp here when it is nice and warm and sunny! But not when it is wet or too hot.

On the lawn again (11)

Sometimes Albert the blackbird joins us! Mummy feeds him by hand – good job he doesn’t like salad.

Garden blackbird110510 (4)

This is me on the lawn looking very small and extra cute. This photo was taken from the far end of the garden which is very high up.

Fairy tour round the garden (9)

I love this bit – I can hide from Marigold and Mariella here and eat my mid morning snack.

Fairy tour round the garden (10)

Meet Gordon! Daddy trims his fur even more often than mummy trims Marigold’s curly locks. Looks like he is due another short back and sides soon!

Fairy tour round the garden (11)b

The back of the house is interesting. The walls have . . .

I am going to meet up with the rest of the gang in the Clubhouse now – it is well past my lunch time!

Honeymoon cut short – shock!

We have had such a lovely honeymoon. I have kept an eye on the newly weds and we have gone everywhere together. I will be sending more pics soon so everyone can see what we’ve been up to. However, it seems we are returning home a bit early though, ready for my Big Birthday on Friday. Minty and Monty say that Mummy has arranged a big party for me with lots of presents and tasty nibbles; so I am really sorry Minty and Monty but the honeymoon will just have to finish early!

Now then where are those pesky love-mice? They sent me along early to reserve the seat but they will have to hurry otherwise they might miss the bus. I can’t imagine how they would cope without me to organise everything for them!

Greyhound bus

Oh dear! They are leaving it a bit late, the driver has started the engine. Lucky I managed to get a nice comfy seat. When do they come around with the snacks?

Greyhound bus seat

Bye bye Fairy – see you back in Appleby! Right Minty – it’s just you and me now – at last!

Fairy leaving, on the road

Wish You Were Here! The Honeymoon – Part 1

As you know, I am accompanying Minty and Monty on their honeymoon. I am taking the important role of Chief Photographer and Reporter. ! I knew I would come in useful.

Fairy gets the camera lined up (1)

Here are the happy couple! Minty and Monty have packed their bag and are off on the holiday of a lifetime! Smile, say ‘cheese’!

Visiting some gardens (1)

That is our hotel for the night. We will book in later.

Bag packed and they're off (4)

We are going sightseeing this morning. This is a nice street!

Lincoln visit (7)

Yummy! Those chocs look rather tempting, Minty, and is that a chunk of cheese on the right? We won’t go in though – there doesn’t appear to be any salad for sale!

Lincoln visit (1)

Wow! The Cathedral is so tall!

Lincoln visit (3)

After a scrumptious lunch of cheese toasties and salad, off we went to the park to climb some trees. I was in charge of the camera so you can’t actually see me in action! Careful, Minty, hold on tight!

Tree climb (1)

Well done! You are almost at the top!

Hang on Minty, I’ll reach a paw down and help you. I’ll just put my camera down.

Tree climb (3)

Minty and Monty enjoyed the tree climb so much they went in for some ‘free climbing’. Look – no rope! They are so brave. I didn’t fancy taking part but it was good fun watching.

Tree palm climbing (3)

Careful you two! It’s very high indeed.

Fairy gets the camera lined up (5)

After a snack we went for a tour round the gardens. Minty! Monty! Smile please!

Visiting some gardens (2)

What gorgeous flowers.

Visiting some gardens 2 (2)

Pretty yellow ones, too.

Visiting some gardens (10)

Oops!I This isn’t right – I  seem to have lost the knack of using the camera.

Visiting some gardens 2 (3)b

Oh, crikey . . . I seem to have too many Minty and Monty’s.

Visiting some gardens (8)b

Flippin’ camera . . . did anyone think to bring the instruction book do you know?

Fairy gets the camera lined up (4)

Is this any better? I just can’t quite get the right angle.

Visiting some gardens 2 (4)b

Oh dear me, it’s facing the wrong way round now.

Fairy flower power (10)

Phew! That’s better! Sorry about that!

Visiting some gardens (2)

Come on then, it is time to go to the hotel. And supper!
